Sancti Romani

When you think of Rome you think of the Popes and of course they have played an important role in the City for centuries.  Some were good pastoral men while others were, well not so nice or moral!  They gave us most of the fountains of Rome which provide clean drinking water for everyone, I filled my thermos at least 6 or 7 times today with good cold delicious water straight from the mountains.  Well everything the Popes did they attached their personal coat of arms, name and a glorious reference to themselves.  While the Popes may have left many monuments to their memory, there is are others who have left more lasting memories in the hearts of the Roman people.  Probably the most beloved is known by the title the people of Rome gave to him, "The Second Apostle of Rome" (St. Peter being the 1st), and his name is Philip Neri.  He was a Florentine by birth who came to Rome and was a priest of great sanctity.  He formed the Oratory, often referred to as the Oratories of St. Philip Neri.  His body is incorrupt and can be found in the Church he built on the Corso (the main Road of Rome).  I visited with him today, here are a couple of pictures.
