Spoleto is in Umbria, one of the most beautiful parts of Italy, about a half hour from Assisi. Myself, Fr. Cesar and Fr. Javier had a splendid time. The town sits at the top of a mountain and is a well preserved medieval town. It is not as crowded as many other more famous places and is a nice place to walk around. It has beautiful Churches and nice piazza's. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in one of the many piazza's. Fr. Cesar chose the restaurant and it was an excellent choice. We enjoyed a nice appetizer of local prosciutto with grilled bread, one bread had local olive oil and spices, one had pate, one had local tomatoes. We then had a handmade pasta with a local tomato chili sauce. They had pork and I choose the veal, the meat came grilled dressed with local olive oil and fresh lemon with roasted potato. We doused it down with a local white wine, Delicious! We enjoyed a day filled with sun, food, fun, friendship, wine, laughter and divine inspiration! Again, La Dulce Vita! The way life should be!

A woman very graciously and excitedly dragged us into this sumptuous theatre her local volunteer group restored to its original splendor. I had no idea what she was saying but I could tell she was very pleased and proud to share it with us. Of course the other two priests followed the conversation perfectly, I understood when she encouraged us to take pictures. She was really very nice and it was an unexpected treat, plus there was no fee!

This picture is taken in front of a Church that Christians built by tearing down an ancient Roman Amphitheater which was seized by the Italian Government who turned it into a museum and rebuilt the amphitheater behind the Church, it also shows a very nice street in the city with the flying bridges that take you from building to building. That is Fr. Cesar with me in the photo.

I took some 80 pictures so this is just a sampling. It was a truly great day. I was so excited to be going on a trip I was up at 4:30am like a kid on Christmas Day. Fr. Cesar and Fr. Javier did a terrific job of being tour guides.
Absolutely gorgeous views and the theater is breathtaking! You guys look incredibly relaxed which makes me happy too.
